Besides adding flavor, nutritional yeast is a great source of B vitamins, including vitamin B12. Many vegans and vegetarians include nutritional yeast in their diet for a source of vitamin B12, because vitamin B12 is found almost exclusively in animal products.Vitamin B12 is essential for nervous system functions and prevention of anemia. Nutritional yeast is also a good source of protein, containing many essential amino acids.
